Keeping Children Safe and Happy
A supervising social worker plays an important part in making sure children in foster care are safe, happy and thriving. They do this mainly by supporting you, the foster carer, to give the child the best possible care.
Through regular visits and phone calls, your supervising social worker gets to know your household and the child in your care. They help you understand the child's needs, offer advice and arrange extra support or training when needed. They also make sure safe care practices are in place for everyone in the home.
Your social worker works closely with the child's own social worker at the local authority, as well as schools, health services and our multi-disciplinary team. Together, they make sure everyone is working towards the child's care plan.
Your social worker will also attend important meetings, such as the child's looked after reviews, and help you prepare for them. With low caseloads at Match, they have the time to do this well.
