Match Foster Care FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Short-term fostering is the most common type of fostering. Unlike long-term fostering, which is frequently permanent and means that the child usually remains with the foster parents until adulthood, short-term fostering is temporary and limited to a maximum of two years.

HMRC won’t tax foster parents up to a certain amount in a tax year. Due to new government tax free allowances announced in 2023 by the government (taking effect from April 5th 2023), all fostering income will be tax free in 99% of all cases.  You’ll still pay tax on money you earn from a job or investment.

As a foster parent, it is essential that you feel fully supported and valued in your role. If that’s not currently the case at your existing agency, or if you are looking to relocate from another area, then transferring foster agencies could be highly beneficial. Contact us today to find out how to transfer to a different fostering agency through Match Foster Care.
