What types of foster care support does Match Foster Care offer to new foster carers?

Support From Day One

Starting out as a foster carer can feel like a big step, so we make sure you have plenty of support from the very beginning.

Before approval, you will complete preparation training and work closely with an assessing social worker, who will help you understand what fostering involves. Once you are approved, you will have a dedicated supervising social worker who visits regularly and is always at the end of the phone. Because our caseloads are low, they have time to help you settle into your new role.

When your first child arrives, you will have 24/7 support from staff who know your family, plus access to our therapeutic practitioner, registered nurse and education workers. You will also continue your training in your first year, building your confidence as you go.

New carers also love meeting other Match foster families at our support groups, activity days and events. Many lasting friendships begin this way, and experienced carers are always happy to share their tips.
