Fostering In Gloucestershire

Right now, foster parents are in high demand across the United Kingdom, and Gloucestershire is no exception. The number of children in care has risen in recent years, and unfortunately, the number of foster carers available to look after these children cannot keep up with the current demand.

Every child deserves to live in a safe, healthy, and caring environment, and this is what foster parents provide. But, here at Match Foster Care, we believe that being a foster parent goes further than this. Rather than simply allocating standard placements, we seek to match children and foster carers that will develop a meaningful relationship that enables the young person to thrive.

Introducing Match Foster Care in Gloucestershire

At Match Foster Care, we are an independent foster care agency that matches children and foster carers across the Gloucestershire and the Midlands areas. We have dedicated more than ten years to supporting foster children and foster parents, and we have no plans to stop!

We help organise foster care for children and young people aged from 0 to 17 years old. We are a family-run, independent fostering agency that is run by experienced social workers.

Match Foster Care was founded by Carrie Marsh. Carrie has personally witnessed the life-changing difference that fostering can make in a child’s life, as her parents were foster carers.

Since 2012, our team of dedicated professionals has been hard at work supporting foster carers and young people to ensure a positive experience for all. We would love you to come on board and to help us continue to offer the very best foster care places for children in Gloucestershire.

Types of Fostering in Gloucestershire

Are you considering becoming a foster carer but feel concerned that you do not have the time available to commit to a longer-term placement? The good news is you can still help us to help young people across the Gloucestershire area. There are many different types of fostering available, so you should find an option to match your availability.

We will work with you to make fostering work for you. We understand that fostering does not work with a one-size-fits-all approach. Foster carers and the children they look after are individuals. With this in mind, we will work alongside you to assess your fostering options and find the solution that best suits you to ensure you feel comfortable with your decision.

Children come into foster care for many reasons. For some children, foster care is just a short, temporary arrangement while their parents get some extra help. For other children, foster care is a long-term solution. Just as the reasons that children come into foster care can vary, so can the level of support you provide. At Match Foster Agency, we aim to create the perfect match between you and the needs of the foster children that come into your care.

Here are the different types of foster care available:

Short term fostering

Short-term fostering is foster care that usually lasts for a period of under two years. However, you will not know for certain how long the child will be placed with you, and it could possibly become a long-term arrangement if you are happy with that.

Long term fostering

Long-term fostering refers to looking after the same child or children for a period exceeding two years. While you may not know the exact amount of time the child will be under your care, usually, the child will be with you for a number of years.

Respite fostering

As a respite foster carer, you will look after children for a short period of time. Respite foster care usually means that a child will be placed with you for just a couple of weeks while their usual foster parents take a break.

Who can Foster a Child in Gloucestershire?

Here at Match Foster Agency, we pride ourselves on being a fostering agency Gloucestershire that offers people from a range of different backgrounds the opportunity to foster. We do not discriminate against foster carers based on age. As long as you are fit, healthy and capable of looking after a child, we will be happy to consider your application to become a foster carer. While there is no upper age limit for foster parents, you must be over 18 years of age to apply.

If you are single, you may find it challenging to be accepted as a foster parent by some agencies. However, we have many single-parent foster carers working with us. So, being single does not need to prevent you from applying and taking part in our fostering assessment. Ultimately, we want to create a match that benefits you both as the fostering parent & child Gloucestershire.
