Receiving Your Allowance as a New Foster Carer
The good news for new foster carers is that there is no separate application form for your fostering allowance. Once you are approved as a foster carer with Match Foster Care and a child is placed with you, your allowance is paid automatically for every week the child lives with you.
The journey starts with a simple enquiry. One of our team will call you for an informal chat, then arrange a home visit. If you decide to go ahead, you will complete your training and a fostering assessment with a dedicated assessing social worker. Your assessment is then presented to our fostering panel, which recommends whether you should be approved.
During your assessment, we explain exactly how the allowance works, how much you could receive for different types of placement and when payments are made. You will also learn about any extra support you may be entitled to, such as help with set-up costs, holidays, birthdays and festivals.
If you want an idea of what you could receive before you enquire, try our finance calculator. Our team are always happy to talk through the figures with you, with no obligation, so you can decide if fostering is right for your family.
