Are there any ongoing training opportunities for experienced foster carers?

Learning Never Stops

Yes. Training at Match Foster Care continues throughout your fostering career, whether you have been fostering for one year or twenty.

Each year, your training needs are reviewed as part of your annual foster carer review. Your supervising social worker will help you update your personal development plan, so your learning keeps pace with the children you care for and with changes in best practice.

Experienced carers can take specialist courses on topics such as therapeutic parenting, trauma and attachment, caring for teenagers, supporting children with complex needs and preparing young people for independence. Our multi-disciplinary team, including our therapeutic practitioner, registered nurse and education workers, also share their expertise.

Many experienced carers also enjoy sharing their knowledge with newer carers through our support groups. If you are an experienced carer thinking of transferring to Match, we would be happy to tell you more about our training. Find out more on our Training Programme page, try our finance calculator, or get in touch with our team.
