Are there any community programmes that provide additional support for foster carers' children?

Support for Sons and Daughters Who Foster

Fostering is something the whole family does together, and the sons and daughters of foster carers play a very important role. At Match Foster Care, we make sure they feel included and supported too.

Our family activity days and annual Christmas ball are open to the whole household, including your own children. These events give them a chance to have fun and to meet other children whose families foster, who understand what it is like to share their home.

Your supervising social worker will also take time to talk with your children during visits, so they have a chance to share how they are feeling and ask questions. We can offer age-appropriate information to help them understand fostering.

There are also national organisations, such as The Fostering Network, that provide resources for the sons and daughters of foster carers. Your social worker can point you towards them. Find out more on our Support for Your Own Children page, try our finance calculator, or get in touch with our team.
