What training resources are available alongside your 24 hour fostering support?

Training and Support Working Together

Our 24 hour support is there when you need help in the moment, but we also want you to feel prepared before challenges arise. That is why every Match foster carer has access to a full training programme.

Training begins with preparation training during your assessment and continues once you are approved, as you complete the Training, Support and Development Standards. Courses cover topics such as safeguarding, first aid, managing behaviour, understanding trauma and attachment, and supporting children's education and health.

Your supervising social worker will help you create a personal development plan, and your training needs are reviewed each year. If a situation comes up that you would like more help with, such as after a call to our out-of-hours line, we can arrange extra training for you.

Our therapeutic practitioner, registered nurse and education workers also share their knowledge with carers. Training is free for Match foster carers, with a mix of face-to-face and online sessions. Find out more on our 24 Hour Support page, try our finance calculator, or get in touch with our team.
