Training That Fits Around You
Training starts before you are even approved. As part of your fostering assessment, you will take part in preparation training, often called Skills to Foster. It introduces you to what fostering involves and helps you meet other people starting their fostering journey.
Once you are approved, you can access our ongoing training programme. Your supervising social worker will help you create a personal development plan and complete the Training, Support and Development Standards in your first year. Courses cover topics such as safeguarding, first aid, understanding trauma and attachment, and managing behaviour.
We offer a mix of face-to-face sessions and online learning, so you can fit training around family life. Training is free for Match foster carers, and you will be told about upcoming courses well in advance.
Our multi-disciplinary team, including our therapeutic practitioner, registered nurse and education workers, also share their expertise with carers, giving you practical skills you can use every day. Find out more on our Our Support & Training page, try our finance calculator, or get in touch with our team.
