Introduction to the AQA Scheme at Match Foster Care

At Match Foster Care, we believe in celebrating every achievement, no matter how big or small. That’s why we’re so proud of our AQA accreditation scheme, led by our Education Lead, Katie Askew. Through this scheme, we create opportunities for all our children and young people, whether fostered or birth children, to earn qualifications for their hard work and participation, helping them build a portfolio that sets them up for a bright and successful future.

Opportunities for Recognition

The AQA Unit Award Scheme creates avenues for recognition through various activities:

  • Specialised Training Days: Young people participate in tailored training sessions.
  • Event Participation: Involvement in events allows children to showcase their skills.
  • Leadership Roles: Children can chair their own Looked After Children (LAC) reviews and meetings, fostering leadership skills.

Even our youngest children can receive accreditation, instilling a sense of pride and achievement early on.

Tailored Qualifications for Diverse Skills

The AQA Unit Award Scheme is flexible and allows us to tailor qualifications to a wide range of activities and skills. This includes recognition for:

  • Practical Skills: Hands-on abilities relevant to everyday life.
  • Personal Development: Growth in self-awareness and emotional intelligence.
  • Teamwork: Collaborative efforts in group settings.
  • Creative Pursuits: Recognition of artistic and creative endeavours.

This approach encourages children to value their contributions, enhancing their confidence and self-esteem.

Building Connections Between Effort and Reward

The scheme emphasises the relationship between effort and reward. By earning qualifications, children witness how their hard work leads to tangible outcomes. This understanding lays a strong foundation for the future, teaching them that achievements—regardless of context—are stepping stones to success.

Impact of the AQA Scheme

Over the years, the impact of this programme has been significant:

  • Pride in Achievements: Children take pride in their certificates; for many, it is their first formal recognition.
  • Career Advancement: These qualifications are beneficial when applying for jobs or further education, showcasing dedication, teamwork, and perseverance.

At Match Foster Care, we are committed to empowering our children to reach their full potential. The AQA scheme exemplifies our investment in their futures, affirming that every effort is valued and success is attainable. Contact our team for more details!
